Feeding in Connection

Why this annual breastfeeding event is so much more than co-feeding
There are moments you'll never forget as a breastfeeding mom. That first latch, that sleepless night wondering if you were doing it right, the support you received, or that one unfortunate comment (because unfortunately, that's part of it sometimes). At Latte Mamiato, we believe breastfeeding isn't an individual achievement but a story of connection. That's why we're proud to help manage Feeding in Connection – the annual event held on the first Sunday of August that not only focuses on breastfeeding but also celebrates the power of togetherness.
What is Feeding in Connection?
Feeding in Connection is a warm gathering of mothers, babies, partners, grandparents, friends, caregivers, and their supporters. Everyone involved in a breastfeeding journey, in any way, or who cares about breastfeeding is welcome. The initiative takes place at various locations in Belgium, each with the same goal: making breastfeeding visible, celebrating, and connecting.
The pivotal moment? At 10 a.m., latte moms everywhere nurse their children simultaneously. On a picnic blanket in the grass, on a bench, on a patio—with others around them. Together. And that feels special.
Why this event is so important
Breastfeeding can be wonderful, but also challenging. Unfortunately, the society we live in still offers too little space, understanding, and support for breastfeeding moms. Think of the short maternity leave, the lack of pumping facilities at work, the myths and well-intentioned advice that undermine your self-confidence or even the misinformation spread by healthcare providers.
Feeding in Connection wants to counter that. Not a protest sign, but a picnic blanket. Not a debate, but an encounter. Not a judgment, but an acknowledgement.
By simply being present —with your child, your breast, your story—you make breastfeeding visible and normal. And that visibility is exactly what's needed to bring about real change.
What to expect
Each location offers its own unique approach to the day. Sometimes with a short welcome, sometimes with coffee or snacks, sometimes with activities and small workshops. But always with space to connect, share experiences, and be yourself – in peace and quiet or with plenty of conversation, the choice is yours.
The gathering starts around 9:30 AM , so everyone is ready for the shared feeding session at 10:00 AM. Partners, siblings, friends, and grandparents are also very welcome. This isn't a mom-only event; it's an event for everyone .
Why Latte Mamiato Supports This
Latte Mamiato was founded out of a need for stylish, practical breastfeeding clothes—but above all, out of the belief that breastfeeding should be easier. With our clothing, we want to give latte moms comfort and confidence. With our voice, we want to contribute to greater awareness, visibility, and change.
That's why, starting this year, we're actively involved behind the scenes at Voeden In Verbinding (Feeding in Connection). We're helping to organize, communicate, and connect. Because it's time for latte moms to stop hiding. Time for breastfeeding to stop having to be "explained."
